We are seeking highly skilled ICU Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center during the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation. The ICU RN will provide critical care to acutely ill patients, ensuring high-quality, continuous care for veterans before, during, and after the EHR transition.
Key Responsibilities
Provide critical care nursing to patients in the ICU
Monitor and assess patients with life-threatening conditions
Operate and manage advanced life-support equipment (ventilators, cardiac monitors, IV pumps)
Administer medications, drips, and treatments as prescribed
Respond rapidly to emergency situations and changes in patient condition
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR system
Educate patients and families on care plans and treatment progress
Ensure compliance with VA policies, HIPAA, and clinical standards
Required Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)
Active RN license (Ohio or Compact State - NLC)
Minimum 2+ years of recent ICU or critical care experience (within last 3 years)
Current BLS (AHA required)
Current ACLS certification (Mandatory for ICU)
Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills
Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Prior VA or federal healthcare experience
Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
Familiarity with EHR systems
Specialty certifications (e.g., CCRN) preferred
Compliance & Submission Requirements
Must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
Completion of VA credentialing & privileging process (6 8 weeks)

Compensation Details
Bill Rate: $81.85/hr
Holiday Rate: $129.23/hr
Wage Determination: $39.41/hr
Health & Welfare: $5.09/hr (if benefits not provided)

High-acuity ICU setting within VA Medical Center
Physically and mentally demanding role
Requires strong teamwork and rapid response capabilities
Additional Notes
This role supports a major federal EHR go-live (October 2026)
Critical role in maintaining patient safety during system transition
