A 198-bed Level III trauma center in Farmington is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Pediatric Emergency Department. This hospital serves the Four Corners region, providing emergency care to communities across New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.

Position Overview

This role is based within a 48-bed Emergency Department that operates using a team nursing and pod-based model. The department includes dedicated support from a social worker and unit educator, helping support both staff and patient needs in a fast-paced environment.

Nurses care for a broad and complex patient population, including pediatric and adult emergencies involving trauma, stroke, cardiac events, sepsis, respiratory failure, psychiatric conditions, and substance-related crises. The environment is highly dynamic, requiring strong critical thinking and the ability to manage varied acuity levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric and emergency department patients across a wide range of conditions
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on acuity and clinical presentation
• Deliver care for complex conditions including trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and respiratory distress
• Support moderate sedation procedures and emergency interventions as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, ED staff, and interdisciplinary team members in a pod-based care model
• Utilize electronic health records (Cerner) for accurate documentation and patient tracking
• Operate and support advanced emergency equipment including Zoll defibrillators, blood warmers, infusion pumps, and point-of-care testing devices
• Assist with ultrasound-guided IV placement and other emergency procedures
• Maintain safe, efficient, and patient-centered care in a high-volume emergency setting

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (New Mexico or compact license to be obtained prior to start)
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Emergency Department experience preferred (minimum 2 years strongly preferred)
• Experience with trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon submission
• Additional certifications may be obtained after hire
