Registered Nurse RN Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room

Full Time • Nights • Rotating Weekends




8, 10, or 12 Hour Shifts




Salary Range: $38.03 to $57.05 per hour based on experience

Relocation assistance available on a case by case basis

Sign on bonus available on a case by case basis

On call rate: $5.00 per hour










Position Overview

The Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse provides high quality, patient centered care to pediatric patients undergoing complex cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role requires advanced clinical skills and a strong understanding of the unique needs of pediatric cardiac patients in the perioperative setting.




The RN collaborates closely with pediatric cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout the surgical continuum. The nurse utilizes a comprehensive nursing framework to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care that supports optimal outcomes.




This role promotes patient safety, family centered care, and developmentally appropriate support while contributing to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the operating room environment.




Position Highlights

  • On call responsibilities required during select non business hours




Responsibilities
  • Evaluate pediatric patients prior to surgery
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding procedures and perioperative expectations
  • Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy, medication administration, and surgical site verification
  • Participate in universal protocols including briefing, time out, and debriefing
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to clinical emergencies
  • Deliver evidence based, patient centered care while supporting quality initiatives
  • Function as an integral member of the interdisciplinary surgical team
  • Apply critical thinking, clinical judgment, and leadership skills to deliver safe care
  • Monitor and document patient status throughout the perioperative period
  • Educate families regarding post operative care and follow up




Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 60 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within 60 days of hire
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN required within defined timeframe of hire
  • Minimum 1 year recent acute care experience required
  • Pediatric experience required
  • Experience caring for patients immediately post cardiac surgery required
  • Experience in NICU, Mother Baby, or PICU preferred
  • Children’s hospital experience preferred
