Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) is responsible for providing specialized perioperative nursing care while supporting surgical teams during complex procedures. This role requires the ability to both scrub and circulate in a fast-paced operating room environment while ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical standards.
The nurse will support a wide range of surgical specialties including transplant, vascular, trauma, and pediatric procedures. This position requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to respond effectively to high-acuity surgical cases including emergency procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Perform both circulating and scrub roles within the operating room.
Support surgical teams across multiple specialties including transplant, vascular, trauma, and pediatric surgery.
Maintain sterile technique and ensure operating room safety standards are followed.
Assist surgeons and surgical staff during procedures while monitoring patient condition.
Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies required for procedures.
Ensure accurate documentation of surgical procedures and patient care activities.
Respond to emergency surgical cases including trauma and critical care procedures.
Participate in call rotations as required.
Required Experience:
Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license required.
Permanent MA license preferred; conditional license accepted.
Experience working in an Operating Room environment.
Ability to scrub and circulate during surgical procedures.
Experience supporting high-acuity and emergency surgical cases.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Experience supporting transplant surgeries including liver and kidney.
Experience in neuro, vascular, and trauma surgical environments.
Pediatric surgical experience.
