• Shift / Schedule: Night Shift, 12-hour nights (18:45 7:15), 3x12 Hours

Job Summary

This is a travel nursing contract position on a 24-bed med-surg/telemetry overflow unit. The unit operates with a 1:6 patient ratio, supported by CNAs (1:12 CNA ratio), and is a diverse team that prides itself on teamwork. The unit exists to provide patients with a remarkable experience in every dimension at every time in collaboration with Novant Inpatient Care Specialists (NICS). The goals of the unit are to restore physiologic stability, prevent complications, and achieve and maintain optimal responses that result in quality patient care. Telemetry is monitored on another unit by a tech, and nurses must be able to correctly treat dysrhythmias.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical-surgical/telemetry nursing care on a 24-bed medsurg/tele overflow unit.
• Maintain target patient ratios of 1:5, with occasional 1:6 assignments.
• Correctly identify and treat dysrhythmias (telemetry monitored remotely by a tech on another unit).
• Collaborate with CNAs and the broader care team, including Novant Inpatient Care Specialists (NICS), to restore physiologic stability, prevent complications, and achieve optimal patient responses.
• Float to sister units as required.
• Fulfill every-other-weekend requirement.
• Be available for Hospital Orientation during week one, including classes each day.

Required Skills

• Telemetry skills (including ability to correctly treat dysrhythmias)
• Proficiency with unit systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
• BCLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience (no first-time travelers accepted; unit will not accept 1st-time travelers)
• Ability to comply with strict RTO policy: no RTO after booking and no working out onsite; violations may result in contract cancellation and Do Not Rehire (DNR) status

Education Requirements

• BCLS certification required
• Active RN License required
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
• NC State RN License or compact license required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers; unit will not accept 1st-time travelers)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• 24-bed medical-surgical/telemetry overflow unit
• 12-hour night shifts (18:45 7:15), 3x12 schedule
• 36 or 48 hours per week can be offered
• Float requirement: Yes (sister units)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Unit orientation: 36 hours
• Hospital orientation during week one; traveler must be available for classes each day
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in a contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• Traveler must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
• Hospital Orientation is required during week one; traveler must be available for all classes each day.
• Local candidates are accepted.
• Auto Offer: Yes immediate interview and offer process in place.
