• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $61.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night (3 12 Hours), 18:45 7:15; 36 or 48 hours accepted. If 48, no OT billed until after 48 hours.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a Neuro Unit position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical care, with a patient focus on general medicine and neuro diagnoses. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. The unit operates on a manager-scheduled basis, with scrub color requirements of Navy Blue. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply a teamwork approach to patient care with a strong focus on patient safety.
• Provide care for patients with general medicine diagnoses, with a focus on neuro conditions.
• Float as required travelers float first.
• Work 5 6 weekend shifts per contract period (equates to every other weekend).
• Be available and willing to learn the charge nurse role.
• Report to work as assigned during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as part of the Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignment.
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis (medication), EPIC (documentation), and SBAR (communication).

Required Skills

• Teamwork approach to patient care

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty

Preferred Skills

• NIH stroke scale experience preferred
• Neuro experience preferred
• Experience with or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred

Education Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Traveler experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Local candidates accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• This is a Neuro Unit patient diagnoses include general medicine with a focus on neuro.
• Night shift position (18:45 7:15), 3 12-hour shifts; 36 or 48 hours accepted.
• Float requirement: Yes travelers float first.
• Weekend requirement: 5 6 weekend shifts per contract (every other weekend).
• RTO (Return to Origin): 7 days maximum. RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could result in a contract cancellation and DNR.
• Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster as part of Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments.
• Scrubs: Navy Blue.
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only).

Important Notes

• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
• Unit orientation: 24 hours.
• RTO after booking is strictly not allowed and may not be worked out onsite. Call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur; contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.
