    Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Float

    Location: Falmouth, Massachusetts
    Duration: 3 Months
    Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 hours/week | Every Other Weekend | Rotating Holidays


    Position Summary

    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Float is responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting. The RN provides patient-centered care, including education, medication administration, and telemetry monitoring, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role may require floating between multiple affiliated healthcare facilities as needed.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process.
    • Monitor and manage patients on telemetry.
    • Administer medications safely and in accordance with best practices.
    • Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy procedures.
    • Manage patients with chest drainage systems and epidural analgesia.
    • Assess patient conditions and respond appropriately to emergencies.
    • Provide care for post-operative, orthopedic, and medical-surgical patients.
    • Accurately document patient care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and care procedures.
    • Collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
    • Identify and report signs of abuse or neglect in compliance with regulations.
    • Manage pain effectively and follow appropriate restraint protocols when necessary.
    • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Float between facilities as required to meet patient care needs.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Experience & Skills

    • Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN experience.
    • Prior travel nursing experience required.
    • Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy.
    • Ability to manage a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
    • Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac medication administration skills.
    • Experience caring for post-operative, orthopedic, and medical-surgical patients.
    • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
    • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities.

    Education

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

    Licensure & Certifications

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
    • Current BLS Certification.
    • Completion of Medical/Surgical IV Medication Module.
    • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Exam.
