Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical (Acute Medical Unit)

Assignment Details

  • Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Schedule: Nights (Monday–Sunday)
  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Hours: 36 hours/week (3x12s)
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted within 50 miles of the facility

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience
  • Current AHA BLS Certification (Required)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (Required)
  • Active RN license in good standing

Department Overview

The Acute Medical Unit provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide variety of acute medical conditions. Nurses on this unit work in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for Medical/Surgical patients
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
  • Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent acute care Medical/Surgical experience
  • Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and patient care abilities
  • Experience managing diverse medical patient populations
