Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for Med/Surg units. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in acute care and be able to adapt to a dynamic hospital environment. First-time travelers are welcome if they meet the experience requirements; prior separation of at least 1 year from previous employment is required if previously a permanent staff RN.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional patient care to a diverse caseload including urology post-operative patients (robotic prostatectomies, partial cystectomies, nephrectomies, etc.), and med/surg overflow conditions such as sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia.
  • Manage post-op patients including total joints and GI/Abdominal surgeries as needed.
  • Maintain patient ratios of approximately 1:5-6 (RN to patients) during day/night shifts and 3 CNA staff per shift, with capacity for up to 1:10 at full census.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, PCA pump management, cardiac rhythm interpretation via telemetry, and non-titratable cardiac drips.
  • Pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.
  • Support unit functions including floating between units, and collaborating with charge nurses, HUC/Secretaries, phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, and therapy teams.
  • Participate in the hospital’s orientation program (2-day hospital orientation + 3-4 days on-unit).
  • Will work every other weekend with mandatory 4-day and 3-day workweeks.
  • Will work 2-3 holidays per scheduled period.
  • No on-call required.
