Required Qualifications

• BSN with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Current MDS experience (within the last 3 years), focusing on completing assessments
• NC State License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Processes: Admission Criteria, Appeals and Denials, Audits, Benefits Eligibility, Care Coordination, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Determine Medical Necessity, Discharge Planning, Needs Assessment (DME, Home Health, Hospice, Skilled Nursing), Physician Advisor, Plan of Care, Pre-Cert Review, Prior Authorizations, QI/CASPER Review & Retrospective Review
• Regulatory: CMS, CPT coding and billing, Department of Health, ICD 10 Coding & MDS
• Professional Topics: Age Specific/Population Based Care
• Additional: Triple Check/Utilization Review

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Regulatory: DRG, HIPAA, NCQA, OBRA & RAPS
• Professional Topics: Educate/Provide resources regarding nursing duties to floor staff
• LTAC Experience
• Certifications: RAC-CT, ICD-10

Job Details

• Ratios: 1:12; Avg. Daily Census: 9; Rooms/Beds: 12
• Shift: 40 hours, 8-hour days (08:30 - 17:00)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• No call, float, or weekend requirements

Patient Diagnoses

Diagnoses range from generalized weakness to surgical aftercare, focusing on post-surgery and surgical wounds/pressure ulcers.

Special Procedures/Unit Details

The unit provides short-term rehab (14-21 days) with round-the-clock nursing and medical support, including PT/OT and ST as required. MDS responsibilities include completing assessments, care plan development, oversight of cert/recert processes, and proper coding for new admissions.

Special Equipment and Systems

• No restraints used
• Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC & EPIC chat/Voalte and Rover

Additional Information

• Scheduling Type: Per Unit Needs
• Unit Orientation: 24 hours after Week One Hospital Orientation
• Scrubs: Navy Blue (not provided)
