Department Summary:

7 Mandell is a 32-bed Inpatient Medical Unit providing comprehensive and high-quality, family-centered care for patients spanning from infancy to young adulthood. Operating 24/7, patient populations served include those with restrictive eating disorders, behavioral health issues, as well as gastroenterology, complex care, renal, endocrine, pulmonary, infectious diseases, and general pediatric conditions. Our interdisciplinary team-comprising registered nurses, clinical assistants, physicians, pharmacists, social workers, child life specialists, nutrition support staff, physical therapists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, behavioral health technicians, and pastoral care-works collaboratively to meet the full spectrum of patient care needs. We focus on assessment, planning, medication and pain management, as well as patient and family education, with a commitment to continuous care evaluation and improvement. The unit sets goals to deliver high-quality, family-centered care, ensure a safe environment, and improve care delivery and patient outcomes. Additionally, we support research and training for clinical staff while fostering a learning environment that educates patients, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing nursing care of children with medical illnesses which may include general medicine, adolescent conditions including suicidality and eating disorders, behavioral health issues, gastroenterology, endocrinology, pulmonary and complex conditions.
  • Working collaboratively with a healthcare team dedicated to family centered care.
  • Working a 36 hour day/night rotation, every other weekend for first year, then every third.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Experience:

  • One year of inpatient (acute care) experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Acute care pediatric experience preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
