Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiac IMC/Stepdown Unit assignment. This position requires a strong cardiac and telemetry background with experience managing intermediate acuity patients in a fast-paced hospital setting. Candidates must have prior travel experience, as first-time travelers are not accepted for this unit.

The RN will care for cardiac IMC patients with a typical patient ratio of 1:4 and should be comfortable with telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, respiratory support modalities, and complex line management.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care for Cardiac IMC/Stepdown patients
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
  • Manage cardiac drips and vasoactive medications according to unit protocols
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and ports
  • Administer blood products and IV therapies safely
  • Care for patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
  • Participate in rapid response and emergency situations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient care coordination
  • Maintain compliance with infection control and isolation precaution standards
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years recent IMC/PCU/Stepdown experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers will not be considered
  • Strong cardiac telemetry and cardiac drip experience required
  • Must be comfortable with a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Epic charting experience required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Candidate must be willing to work night shifts
  • Candidates residing in restricted Texas counties are not eligible for this assignment

Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris

Qualifications Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years recent IMC/PCU/Stepdown experience preferred
  • Cardiac telemetry and intermediate care experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred
License:
  • Active RN License required
  • ACLS certification required
