Beloit Health System is adding to our team in our Family Care Center with immediate openings for a Registered Nurse at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

In this position the Registered Nurse will provide primary nursing care for patients in our fast-paced Family Care Center. In this position the Registered Nurse will provide patient care for Labor & Delivery, Level II Nursery, Post-Partum, and Pediatric patients. The Registered Nurse will:

  • Monitor the vitals of labor and delivery patients, both mother and baby, including assessing fetal heart rate and maternal health
  • Provide care to laboring mothers including pain management and comforting
  • Assist during the labor at the direction of the physician
  • Provide postpartum care including newborn care and recovery
  • Administer intermittent and continuous IV medications and monitor condition changes to optimize patient recovery and accurately documenting in the EMR.
  • The staff nurse plans, coordinates, supervises and provides care for clients throughout their life span within the framework of the well/illness continuum. This includes optimal service in a cost-effective manner.
  • Appropriately assesses basic physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families.
  • Effectively plans patient care and consistently implements the patient's plan of care.
  • Accurately evaluates patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies.
  • Provides patient/family education appropriately.
  • Strictly adheres to infection control policies including body substance isolation and blood born pathogen precautions.
  • Actively participates in Quality Improvement program.
  • Performs unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies.
  • Completes documentation according to policy.
  • Effectively sets goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity.
  • Ensures patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protects patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable.
  • State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required. (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date).
  • Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire.
  • 1-2 years if medical/surgical experience, labor & delivery experience, or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certifications to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • When placed on call during a regular scheduled shift, you must be able to arrive to the center within 30 minutes of being called in.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies.
  • Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination.
  • Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion which includes standing, walking for extensive periods of time. Also assists with lifting patients up to 25 pounds weight, pushing transport carts ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds.
  • Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires working in sometimes stressful conditions or irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
