Shifts: Varied with Call Time

Job Summary:

Coordinates the provision of direct patient care according to Nursing Care Standards. The Registered/Graduate Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and records patient care in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care. Participates in teaching and rehabilitation of the patient. Coordinates discharge planning in conjunction with other members of the health team. Directs and assists with the Licensed Practical Nurse, Nursing Assistant, and Nursing Student in rendering care to patients, works collaboratively with all members of the patient care team and provides leadership so that standards of professional nursing practice are maintained in the clinical setting. Demonstrates ability to function as a charge nurse as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the span of life. He/she must be able to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide appropriate care for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, or adult patient.

Job Specification

Minimum Education Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Minimum Experience Required: Endoscopy experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification Required: Must possess current license, as a registered nurse in the State of Pennsylvania Must be BLS certified required (or obtain within one month of hire).

ACLS preferred. Procedural sedation dysrhythmia training required (must be required within 6 months).

Skills required (if applicable):

Must possess nursing knowledge to effectively assess patients, formulate patient plan of care, implement and evaluate care and record completely.

Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, family and other members of the health care team.

Must possess the necessary abilities to perform the essential functions of this position and complete the established orientation process.

Must demonstrate ability to utilize hospital computer system.

Must possess understanding and commitment to service excellence and performance improvement.
