Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency Department (ED)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency department. The ideal candidate will have strong emergency nursing experience, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to respond effectively to a wide range of acute medical emergencies. Candidates must be flexible to work any shift and commit to the full 13-week assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, prioritize, and provide nursing care to patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions.
  • Perform rapid patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency treatments according to physician orders.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to changes in clinical status.
  • Assist physicians during emergency procedures, trauma activations, and resuscitations.
  • Operate and monitor emergency medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and defibrillators.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) RN experience.
  • Previous travel or contract nursing experience required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • PALS certification preferred (or required based on facility policy).
  • TNCC preferred.

Assignment Requirements

  • Any shift available (Days/Evenings/Nights).
  • No block scheduling available.
  • Local and travel candidates are welcome to apply at the same bill rate.
  • Weekend requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW).
  • Requested Time Off (RTO) will be considered; however, candidates must be available to work three shifts per week for the entire 13-week assignment without exception.
  • Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and facility onboarding requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong triage and emergency assessment skills.
  • Experience with trauma, stroke, cardiac, and critical care emergencies.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound clinical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
