Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical / Emergency / ICUJob Description

This role offers an opportunity for compassionate and skilled Registered Nurses to join a collaborative Medical Surgical team within a community hospital setting, with additional openings in the Emergency Department, ICU, and a specialized care center. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while working closely with physicians, fellow nurses, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. Both day and night shift positions are available, and you will practice in a supportive environment that encourages professional growth, continuing education, and long-term career development.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients in Medical Surgical, Emergency Department, ICU, or specialized care unit settings.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including monitoring vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize electronic medical record systems to document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in case management and care management activities to support appropriate utilization of services and effective discharge planning.
  • Engage in utilization management processes by contributing clinical information and collaborating with care teams to ensure appropriate levels of care.
  • Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and self-care to promote understanding, adherence, and optimal recovery.
  • Advocate for patient needs and preferences, ensuring that care delivery remains safe, ethical, and aligned with evidence-based practice.
  • Follow established protocols, including NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and other clinical pathways, to support consistent and high-quality care.
  • Maintain competency in basic life support and respond appropriately to emergency situations within the unit.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including continuing education and training, to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
  • Contribute to a supportive team environment by communicating effectively, offering assistance to colleagues, and participating in unit-based initiatives and quality improvement efforts.

Essential Skills

  • Current, unencumbered Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact multistate RN license.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, care management, or utilization management within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in medical record documentation and use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize, make sound clinical judgments, and respond effectively to changing patient conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in medical, surgical, emergency, ICU, or related acute care environments.
  • Current knowledge of nursing standards, evidence-based practice guidelines, and relevant clinical protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred for enhanced career growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Experience in Medical Surgical nursing, Emergency Department, ICU, or managed care environments is highly valued.
  • Comfort working on day or night shifts, depending on unit needs and personal preference.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with hospital information systems and clinical software.
  • Interest in ongoing continuing education and participation in professional development programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive team environment and contribute positively to unit culture.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple patients and tasks.
