Job Summary and Qualifications
The sepsis coordinator is a Registered Nurse reporting to the VPQ. This person works in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to the septic patient. The coordinator provides clinical, professional expertise for patients, families and staff members. The coordinator facilitates development and refinement of the sepsis protocol to become the standard of care within the facility.
What you will do in this role:
- Supportive of the ethics and compliance programs set forth by HCA demonstrated by:

- Enforces all ethics and compliance policies as they pertain to his/her area.
- Sets an example to all staff in their daily activities.
- Adheres to policies on appropriate access.
- Respects patients and healthcare confidentiality.
- Educate hospital staff on the best practices of sepsis management.
- Develops and supports education to meet all requirements of sepsis management.
- Develops and recommends protocol/guidelines for best practice of the septic patient across the continuum of care.
- Oversees, analyzes, and trends data related to throughput of sepsis patients.
- Provides data to the Administrative leaders and/or other applicable hospital leadership to initiate change as appropriate, in order to improve processes and outcomes.
- Work with medical staff to assure continuity of care in the septic patients and to ensure quality outcomes occur.
- Provides organized care to the sepsis patient with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention.
- Works closely with Emergency Medical Services to assure optimal continuity of care from pre-hospital to hospital.
- Ensures metrics are in place to show continuous improvement in the care patients with sepsis.
- Acts as an internal hospital resource and externally in the community regarding education of the septic patient.
- Participates in identifying needs, planning and implementing educational programs for patients, families, community groups, and other designated healthcare facilities to improve outcomes.
- Represents the hospital at local, regional, or other applicable levels related to best practices for sepsis patients.
- Assures compliance with all TJC and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building skills.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Masters Degree, or Bachelors Degree
