How you’ll make an impact in this role

  • Lead Burn ICU Shift Operations: Coordinate specialized unit staffing and use independent judgment to plan shifts, manage critical daily operations, and direct nursing teams within the Burn ICU and related specialty areas.

  • Manage Intensive Patient Care & Productivity: Assess complex daily burn and critical care needs to distribute assignments, ensure population-appropriate care, maintain strict productivity standards, and justify variances.

  • Mentor & Educate Burn Care Staff: Direct, monitor, and educate nursing associates on specialized ICU protocols while providing key input into staff hiring, training, development, and clinical evaluations.

  • Resolve Complaints & Manage Care Quality: Address and resolve patient care complaints through established channels to maintain high standards of quality and family support in a sensitive ICU environment.

  • Optimize Critical Resources & Dynamics: Rapidly prioritize shifting patient and physician dynamics while facilitating the seamless availability of specialized medical materials, resources, and burn unit supplies.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

What additional preferences we're seeking

  • Must have recent Burn ICU experience
  • Must have charge and/or preceptor experience
  • Prefer minimum of 3 years experience in critical care nursing
  • BSN strongly preferredThere are 2 openings
