The Medical Oncology RN acts as a collaborative member of the oncology team to provide patients with streamlined and coordinated care. This RN schedules patients for chemotherapy and infusion services, assists the pharmacy and infusion staff to organize orders, is able to proficiently navigate OncoEMR, Meditech, and Athena, coordinates infusion services, and radiation oncology concerning proper patient scheduling, assists the patient with ease of visits, and contributes to patient care planning. The RN will utilize nursing skills to include, but not limited to, providing patient/family education related to diagnosis, tests and medications, management of side effects of treatment and symptoms, psychosocial issues as they arise, and will utilize nursing skills to evaluate, treat, and report to the physician and other healthcare professional any special needs of the patient. The RN will perform initial clinical assessments and assists physician/practitioner with any treatments or procedures and will assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care. |
