Job Title: Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health Adult Inpatient

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible Extension)

Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 34.5

Compensation

  • Local Pay:$60/hour
  • Traveler Pay:Up to $2,300/week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health Adult Inpatient to provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric nursing care in an adult inpatient behavioral health setting. The ideal candidate will have experience caring for adult behavioral health patients, strong assessment and crisis intervention skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission, throughout hospitalization, and at discharge.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized nursing care plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning, daily rounds, patient care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for therapeutic response and adverse effects.
  • Complete and document required psychiatric screening and assessment tools within the electronic medical record (EMR), including:
    • BROSET
    • C-SSRS (Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale)
    • Elopement Risk Assessment
    • CIWA
    • CINA
    • AUDIT-C
    • PSP
  • Facilitate and co-lead therapeutic nursing education groups.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EMR.
  • Participate in developing and updating comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures within the RN scope of practice, including:
    • EKGs
    • Phlebotomy
    • Vital signs
    • IV insertion
  • Support and guide ancillary staff in psychiatric patient care activities.
  • Maintain a safe therapeutic environment while implementing suicide precautions, seclusion protocols, and elopement prevention measures when appropriate.
  • Ensure patient safety during off-unit diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
  • Participate in patient and family education and interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Promote positive patient outcomes through evidence-based behavioral health nursing practices.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Behavioral Health Adult Inpatient nursing experience required.

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).
