Registered Nurse - Acute Care Department- (48 hours per pay period)

Summary

Under the direction of and in collaboration with unit management, performs responsibilities exercising initiative, judgment, and independent decision-making within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy, and other governing organizations. Utilizes the nursing process, assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, in a systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and their families.

Job Duties

• Provide quality care in multiple settings: Pediatrics Medical Surgical Inpatient Outpatient Emergency Senior Care Nursery Chemotherapy and Ambulance Transport as needed/delegated.
• Maintains certifications in all areas within scope of practice.
• Supervision of LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators as needed.
• Effectively utilize nursing process.
• Demonstrates effective interviewing and assessment skills and integrates new or current techniques to obtain physical/psycho-social information from the patient/family to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care through the nursing process.
• Initiates and maintains patient care plan to reflect current patient needs utilizing computerized documentation.

• Is courteous and friendly, using a quiet respectful tone of voice when speaking with customers.
• Follows hospital policies regarding confidential or sensitive information.

Required Education and Experience

• Required Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current unencumbered Registered Nurse RN license in the State of Minnesota
• Successful completion of a criminal background check as required by the State of Minnesota
• Certifications Required at Hire: Basic Life Support BLS Required Within 3 Months of Hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS Required Within 6 Months of Hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS
• Additional Training: All newly hired RNs will receive in-house trauma training within the first year of employment. This training meets the educational objectives of the Minnesota State Trauma System unless the RN has previously completed one of the following: Trauma Nursing Core Course TNCC Comprehensive Advanced Life Support CALS Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses ATCN Certified Acute Trauma Nurse CATN Trauma Care After Resuscitation TCAR

Position Type

• Expected Hours of Work: Provides patient care to a general population. Shifts are rotating 12 hours, including rotating weekends and holidays.
• Supervisory Responsibility: Supervisory responsibilities would include oversight to non-licensed personnel who may be assisting you with the care of your patients.
