The Registered Nurse works as a part of a team to provide quality care to designated patients. The RN works within the scope of practice within the Florida Board of Nursing Practice Act. Accountabilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort): The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Performance Nursing Duties as per Nurse Job Description 100% Perform patient interview and obtains vital signs. Assists with admissions, discharges and transferring patients within the facility. Administers medication and therapies within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures. Perform skilled nursing procedures within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures. Arrange for tests and procedures. Documents appropriate information and in a timely manner according to nursing and hospital policies and procedures. Perform daily checks in each unit covered by the team to ensure all the equipment to be used for the safety of patients and personnel. Monitor availability of supplies and order replacement of necessary items to assure efficient operation. Respond and assist team members and other personnel in any patient emergency situations. Coordinate patient's necessary preparations for certain procedures to others: charge nurses, unit nurses, nurse liaisons, ARNPs, technologists, and physicians. Orients new staff. Identifies needs of new staff regulars, as well as supplemental staff. Provide support and guidance as needed. Creates a comfortable environment for staff, physicians, and other health care personnel. Is knowledgeable in and effective in carrying out the policies of the unit and hospital daily. Supports improvement performance activities and participates in both unit and hospital activities. Reports daily to Clinic Nurse Supervisor unit concern/issues. Professional Accountability: Consistently maintain complete confidentiality of all medical, financial, employee, computer and other sensitive materials, which may violate HIPAA regulations and/or jeopardize the privacy of others. Attends meetings as needed. Acts as role model and maintain professional demeanor at all times. Develops and maintains clinical competency. Demonstrates professional independence in the practice of nursing. Consults internal experts when appropriate. Maintains documentation of the continuing education requirements. Maintains CPR provider card. Attends all mandatory in-services as directed Participates in professional organization. Seeks/accepts training to learn new skills and maintain current competencies. Maintains and completes Personnel Development Record as per policy. Maintains professional certifications/licensure in active status. Practices within the guidelines as set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing. Meets customers' expectations by listening to them, demonstrating sensitivity and awareness of others. Follows through to ensure that established expectations are satisfied; keep customers informed of progress. Works effectively and cooperatively in groups/teams to ensure quality patient care. Communicates effectively with directors and/or manager and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Regular, predictable and dependable attendance. Demonstrate dependability/reliability by promptly reporting to work when scheduled. Compliance with UM, hospital and department policies and procedures Serves as mentor and role model Performs charge nurse duties as appropriate. Inject local anesthesia under MD supervision. Dressing changes as needed per ordered. Cauterize bleeding vessels under MD supervision. Graduate from an accredited RN school. BSN preferred Minimum of one year RN experience preferably in a hospital setting. Will consider recent licensed graduates. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Excellent English verbal/written skills are necessary.
