GENERAL SUMMARY
Directs the clinical aspects of patient nutritional care services. Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of food service quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides nutrition counseling and dietary planning for patients.
- Develops patient menu in cooperation with the Nutrition Services Directors
- Provides nutrition education in accordance to established policies and procedures.
- Maintains records , report, and statistics

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Registered Dietitian (R.D.) with proof of current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Bachelors degree in nutrition or dietetics
- Two years or more experience in public health setting.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure as a representative of Roseland Community Hospital.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with all levels of staff, patient population and the community composed of diverse cultures and age groups.
- Ability to document, develop and write reports clearly and accurately.
- Assist dietitians and dietary managers to maintain quality patient care through compliance of federal, state and local regulations, as well as company standards
- Provide nutrition education for community programs
- Teach classes to assist and educate patients in self-management and monitoring of diabetes, weight management, and other disease
- Provide group nutrition counseling per Medical Nutrition Therapy guidelines to patients at and High School students
- Participate as part of interdisciplinary team for Nursing Facility by attending and contributing to Resident Care Council, skin rounds
- Evaluating food handling, sanitation, preparation, service procedures and equipment
- Promote good communications with the resident, physician and all healthcare community's personnel
- Support the goal and objectives of both Nutritional Services and the Transplant Center
- Develop and implements plan of care based on assessment of nutritional needs and available sources, and correlates plan with other healthcare professionals
- Write orders in the medical record according to policies and protocols
- Attend mandatory in-services as assigned by Chief Clinical Dietician
- Respond to medical staff concerns and referrals in a timely manner and refer to appropriate outside resources
- Assist the Discharge Planning Coordinator in planning the dietary services portion of the residents discharge plan
- Serve as a nutrition resource to medical staff and other members of the health care team
- Maintain and submit paperwork/documentation as required by the Company and/or facility
- Assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician
- Complete assigned nutrition assessments, MDS, care plans, and participate in meetings
- Advocate the hospital as the best place to heal, to work, and to provide patient care
- Develop education plan based on needs assessment
- Provide expertise to implement andevaluate nutrition programs for all populations
