The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the company's safety strategy across multiple distribution centers, warehouses, and logistics operations within an assigned region. This role partners closely with operations leadership to create a proactive safety culture focused on injury prevention, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.The Regional Safety Manager will drive consistency across locations, ensure safe material handling practices, and reduce risk in fast-paced warehouse environments. This position plays a key role in ensuring employees, contractors, and visitors operate safely while supporting productivity and business growth.Safety Strategy & CultureDevelop and implement a comprehensive safety program across distribution centers and warehouse operationsBuild a strong safety culture focused on accountability, ownership, and prevention across assigned locationsPartner with Operations, Transportation, and Facility leadership to integrate safety into daily operationsEstablish company-wide safety standards and best practices for warehouse operationsLead safety initiatives including behavioral-based safety and employee engagement programsWarehouse & Distribution SafetyEnsure safe material handling, including forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and lifting equipmentDevelop safety procedures for loading, unloading, picking, packing, and shipping operationsImplement warehouse traffic management and pedestrian safety programsEnsure proper storage, stacking, and handling of materialsPartner with operations to improve ergonomics and reduce repetitive motion injuriesCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations across assigned locationsMaintain and update safety policies, procedures, and training documentationConduct facility safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analysesTrack corrective actions and ensure timely resolutionManage contractor and visitor safety requirementsIncident Management & PreventionLead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planningTrack injury trends and develop proactive prevention strategies across locationsManage near‑miss reporting and improvement initiativesSupport workers' compensation management and return‑to‑work programsDrive continuous improvement to reduce recordable injuries and lost time incidentsTraining & Employee EngagementDevelop and deliver safety training programs for warehouse employees, supervisors, and site leadersLead forklift certification and material handling safety trainingConduct new hire safety orientation for warehouse and operations employeesFacilitate toolbox talks and ongoing safety communicationsEstablish and support site‑level safety committeesReporting & AnalyticsTrack and report key safety metrics, including:Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR)Near Miss ReportingSafety ObservationsTraining CompletionProvide daily, weekly, monthly safety performance updates to leadershipIdentify trends and recommend improvement initiativesMulti‑Site Support & TravelConduct regular visits to distribution centers and warehouse locations within the assigned regionPartner with site leadership on safety improvements, audits, and corrective action follow‑upParticipate in operational reviews and leadership meetingsSupport new facility openings, expansions, and operational changesTravel required, with a minimum of 25%RequirementsRequiredBachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of safety leadership experience in distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environmentStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety best practicesExperience supporting multi‑site or regional operationsExperience with forklift safety and material handling environmentsStrong communication and leadership skillsAbility to influence and drive cultural change across multiple locationsPreferredCSP, ASP, or other safety certificationExperience in distribution or building materials industryExperience building safety programs across multiple warehouse locationsBilingual (Spanish) preferredWork EnvironmentMinimum 25% travel to distribution centers and warehouse locations within the assigned regionWarehouse and industrial environmentExposure to material handling equipment and operational environmentsWalking facilities, climbing stairs, and conducting inspections requiredCommitted to supporting weekend work when neededPGS is a leading tile distributor focused on operational excellence, customer service, and employee safety.
