Regional Safety Manager

Kindle Energy Management Company LLC ("Kindle") is a portfolio company of the private equity firm, The Blackstone Group L.P. ("Blackstone"), specializing in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada. Kindle is recruiting for the role of Regional Safety Manager for Gavin Power LLC, a portfolio of power plants managed across southern Ohio/Indiana. This position reports to the Kindle Portfolio Operations Team and may require travel of more than 50%.Regional Safety ManagerOverviewThe Regional Safety Manager plays an essential role in promoting safety excellence within the company and will report to the Director of Operations for Gavin Power LLC. The position works with the Leadership Team at each regional plant location to drive a safety culture that achieves top decile safety performance. The role provides onsite support, reinforces employee engagement, and ensures safety programs are administered effectively across the region. Additionally, this position develops safety and metric reports, coordinates and delivers training, performs detailed incident investigations, and supports other activities established by company leadership.ResponsibilitiesPartner with plant leadership to develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, including safety policies and proceduresMonitor and evaluate changes in applicable OSHA regulations, consensus standards, standard interpretation letters, and industry best practices to keep policies, procedures and work practices currentProvide leadership and guidance to plant leadership on safety matters, promoting a safety‑enriched cultureChampion safety over production initiativesServe as a change agent to achieve a zero‑injury safety culture within the regionEffectively communicate safety information to employees and plant leadershipDevelop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in safety performanceTrack and trend leading indicators to identify and implement best practices across the fleetConduct regular safety audits, inspections and risk assessments; provide recommendations and strategic support to mitigate or eliminate workplace hazardsTrack the completion of associated corrective measures and action itemsMaintain company standards when conducting incident investigations, identifying causal factors, root causes, and corrective actionsMaintain accurate records of safety incidentsAssist with the development and delivery of safety trainingPrepare reports for executive leadership and regulatory agenciesAssist with reviewing and/or preparing applicable regulatory reportsDevelop safety flashes, operating experience bulletins, vendor business cases, and recordability determination reportsAssist with injury management and documentationMentor and advise station Health and Safety SpecialistsProvide oversight of annual medical surveillanceProvide support and oversight of the region Industrial Hygiene programSkills and QualificationsStrong understanding of safety regulations in the electric power generation industryDemonstrated experience developing safety and health programsExperience in safety program management and implementationAbility to articulate the attributes of an effective safety cultureExperience engaging workers across an organization to build a safety cultureExcellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skillsAbility to conduct safety audits, investigations, and risk assessmentsDemonstrates strong problem‑solving, critical thinking and analytical skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety‑related softwareAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExperience in training and/or public speakingEducation & ExperienceMinimum of 8–10 years in the electric power generation or closely related industryPrevious experience as a supervisor of people and safety programsBachelor's degree with major coursework in safety and health, industrial hygiene, or other closely related field is preferredCSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification is preferredWorking ConditionsThis role is expected to reside within commutable distance to the plants in Southwest Ohio/Southeast Indiana with an expectation of weekly travel to plant locations. The primary work will be performed onsite at natural gas and coal power generating plants and requires the ability to work outdoors in environments that often experience adverse weather conditions (heat, dust, rain, wind, snow, etc.) and working at heights. Some site support activities (maintenance outages and investigations) may be time‑sensitive and measured in consecutive days or weeks. This role may require work after normal working hours, at night, on weekends, holidays, and includes overnight travel. Extensive travel on short notice is required.
