Responsibilities:

The Regional Operations Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across the assigned geographic, multi branch area to ensure consistent execution of operational standards, exceptional customer service and a best-in-class customer experience.   This includes overseeing and directing warehouse operations for the assigned area, ensuring efficient, safe, and customer focused execution.   Provides leadership to operations and support teams, develops and implements operational strategies, resolves operational issues, and ensures alignment with regional and company objectives.  Accountable for operational performance, financial discipline and warehouse team development.  Works in partnership with regional sales and store leaders to align operational capacity with business strategy while driving performance across safety, service, cost, and people metrics. Ensures one high-performing unit including sales growth, margin protection and maximization, inventory management, process improvement, employee development, and ensuring excellent customer experience. Interfaces with sales team to ensure sales execution and operational delivery of sales initiatives. The Regional Operations Manager supervises Warehouse leaders in their area and ensures the overall store and regional objectives are met.

 

Supervises warehouse leaders directly; indirectly supervises and supports the warehouse personnel reporting to the warehouse leader. May have direct or indirect reporting responsibilities for other assigned personnel that support operations or other branch functions in the region.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides operational leadership for multiple locations, including oversight of distribution, fleet operations, inventory management, vendor management, and customer-specific operational requirements.
  • Partners with the Regional Manager to ensure the highest quality of customer service and experience, ensuring service commitments, responsiveness, and issue resolution consistently meet or exceed expectations.
  • Oversees all operational activities including order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, working capital optimization, and quality systems.
  • Develops, executes, and communicates regional operational strategies, budgets, and performance goals in alignment with regional and local leadership.
  • Partners with regional leadership to determine operational plans, resource allocation, and execution priorities.
  • Coordinates day-to-day operational and functional activities while resolving operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Hires, manages, trains, develops, counsels, and coaches warehouse supervisors and managers, including but not limited to setting clear expectations and providing feedback to ensure performance. Drives accountability through performance management and succession planning.
  • Ensures efficient and safe operations across all locations within the defined area, maintaining consistent standards and execution.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, safety standards, and internal audit requirements.
  • Manages operational aspects of the P&L for the respective region/s and monitors associated expenses.  Ensures operational expense control and expense-based P&L performance, ensuring activities are conducted within approved budgets.  Consults frequently with Regional and Branch Managers to ensure expenses in line with budgets and branch performance.
  • In conjunction with Branch Manager, maintains facilities in tour-ready condition and ensures execution of preventative maintenance programs for all facilities and equipment.
  • Identifies operational opportunities to support new products and services from a distribution and execution perspective.
  • Initiates, identifies, recommends, documents, trains, and implements standard operating procedures related to smooth and consistent operations to ensure a positive customer Implements improved process initiatives through communication, training, and oversight.
  • Analyzes, assesses, and reports on existing operations and proposes strategies and best practices to improve processes and procedures related to sales and operational procedures. Works in collaboration with other departments and branch personnel to devise consistent practices that build a cohesive approach to delivering a superior customer experience and achieving financial goals.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports operational data to regional leadership and senior leaders to support informed decision making.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with regional and branch support teams and other store and sales support functions to ensure seamless execution of regional objectives.
  • Adheres to and enforces all company policies, procedures, and business ethics.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Additional Job Responsibilities:

Acts as part of the Regional/Company Owned Store Group leadership team providing assistance and support to other Regional Operations Managers and Regional Managers.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Highschool degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or related field preferred.
  • Ten years of progressive operations leadership experience, preferably in multi-site distribution or logistics environment. 
  • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability in order to travel across assigned territory.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of wholesale distribution operations, including order fulfillment, inventory control, logistics, customer service, showroom merchandising, shipping and receiving, sales, and operational compliance management.
  • Proven experience with fleet, inventory, and distribution operations.
  • Understanding of P&L management including achieving revenue and margin goals.
  • A solid understanding of branch operations and methodologies with a strong work history in managing all aspects of wholesale distribution preferred.
  • Problem solving skills with ability to actively listen, interpret and meet the needs of others, and diagnosing and rectifying problems.
  • Ability to develop efficient work procedures, support, train to, and implement operating procedures.
  • Ability to train employees across varying skill levels. Excellent teaching skills with ability to identify needs, impart knowledge, determine follow up needs, and ensure learning and development. Ability to train employees across varying skill levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate positive work behaviors of warehouse and store personnel.
  • Proficient in Company-utilized software platforms including but not limited to Epicor/Eclipse and Microsoft suite of products. Experience with RF technology and knowledge of Eclipse ERP preferred.
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles, including recruiting and hiring, training and development, delegating, coaching, and evaluating employees.
  • General knowledge of governmental regulations as applied to product distribution, including OSHA regulations, Worker’s Compensation, and Hazardous Materials Handling.
  • While multilingual skills are valued, English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement for this position due to the nature of the work, safety regulations, and to ensure accurate communication and comprehension.

Work Environment:

Employee may spend significant periods of time traveling on business via personal automobile and/or company vehicle with some air travel. Travel is primarily limited to the geographic region of responsibility. Most work is performed with telephone equipment, personal computer, fax, printer, and RF scanner.
