Regional Credit Officer

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a regional banking organization to identify a Regional Credit Officer in the Houston, TX area. This role is onsite and will support commercial credit approval, portfolio oversight, and risk management across a growing regional lending portfolio.

This position is ideal for an experienced commercial credit professional who has direct loan approval authority and enjoys partnering closely with lenders on deal structure and risk evaluation. The right candidate is analytical, collaborative, and comfortable making high-level credit decisions across complex commercial transactions.

Required:

• Strong commercial credit background with direct loan approval authority
• Experience evaluating and approving Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loans
• Ability to structure complex commercial credit transactions and assess repayment risk
• Experience partnering closely with lenders, portfolio teams, and credit analysts
• Strong financial statement analysis and commercial risk assessment capabilities

Preferred:

• Experience overseeing regional or large commercial loan portfolios
• Background in participating in loan committees, portfolio reviews, or asset quality meetings
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, credit administration, and policy compliance
• Finance or Accounting degree preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and client-facing banking teams
