Job Goal:

The Regional Coordinator leads the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Texas Education for Homeless Children and Youth (TEHCY) Resource Grant. This role builds regional and statewide capacity among Education Service Centers (ESCs) and school systems by aligning supports to the McKinney-Vento Act, Texas Education Agency (TEA) priorities, and evidence-based practices. The Coordinator oversees project management, resource and training development, accessibility compliance, performance monitoring, and stakeholder collaboration to improve academic outcomes for students experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public administration, or related field
  • Master's degree preferred (education, social services, or program management)

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in K-12 education, student services, or grant/project management
  • Experience working with McKinney-Vento programs and/or highly mobile student populations
  • Experience delivering professional development and technical assistance to varied stakeholders
  • Experience developing education resources, such as toolkits, guidance documents, and micro-learning content
  • Demonstrated success coordinating multi-site initiatives with timelines, milestones, and measurable outcomes

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in project coordination, progress monitoring, and use of project plans/Required Activities Documents (RAD)
  • Strong understanding of McKinney-Vento requirements and best practices for identification, enrollment, transportation, attendance, and academic supports
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to work across agencies and regions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe, Canvas, data dashboards, and project management tools

Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional planning and coordination to align ESC efforts with TEA's TEHCY strategies and McKinney-Vento requirements; maintain cohesion across regions.
  • Lead development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Required Activities Document (RAD) in collaboration with TEA.
  • Develop, manage, and report against a Required Activities Document (RAD) including goals, milestones, project timelines, deliverables, revisions, and performance measures; provide monthly reports and bi-weekly updates to TEA.
  • Design, develop, and disseminate high-quality tools and resources (e.g., McKinney-Vento Liaison Toolkit, FAQs, absenteeism strategies, transportation guides, best-practice checklists) and micro-learning videos for liaisons and school systems.
  • Create student- and family-facing materials that support transitions and post-secondary planning; ensure resources are accurate, publication-ready, and aligned to TEA branding.
  • Ensure all resources meet accessibility standards and are available in English and Spanish; coordinate translation and ADA/WCAG compliance reviews.
  • Plan and deliver statewide and regional trainings; track attendance, topics, and training impact data.
  • Facilitate regular collaboration meetings; document agendas, notes, action items, and follow-through to completion.
  • Collect, analyze, and report performance data aligned to TEHCY grant measures.
  • Coordinate allowable travel and logistics for regional engagements in accordance with state travel guidance; steward resources in alignment with grant allowables.
  • Maintain strong relationships with ESC McKinney-Vento liaisons, school systems, and community partners to strengthen identification, enrollment, and service delivery.
  • Manage quality assurance and ensure all deliverables are publication-ready and meet 100% of all TEA requirements and branding standards.
