What You'll Do

As a Referral Coordinator at OrthoAtlanta, you’ll:

  • Prioritize and schedule referrals based on urgency, ensuring timely follow-up and seamless handoffs to specialists and providers
  • Accurately collect and enter demographic, insurance, and clinical information into the EMR to support referral processes
  • Verify insurance benefits, contact payers for pre-authorization, and communicate clinical details when necessary to establish medical necessity
  • Explain referral expectations, co-pays, or deductibles, and answer questions to ensure patients are informed and prepared
  • Build strong relationships with referral offices, community providers, and internal teams to support smooth transitions of care
  • Serve as a go-to contact for staff regarding authorizations, procedural codes, and insurance requirements

What You’ll Need

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office or clinical environment
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and verification procedures
  • Customer service experience in a patient-facing role
  • Familiarity with medical terminology (preferred)
  • Experience using Epic EMR system (preferred)
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling patient information
