POSITION: Recruitment/Retention Specialist
LOCATION: Christina Administration Office
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Human Resources
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Human Resources, the Recruitment and Retention Specialist leads the District's strategic recruitment and retention initiatives to attract, hire, and retain a highly qualified and diverse workforce. The successful candidate will leverage data, technology, strategic partnerships, and innovative recruitment practices to strengthen the District's talent pipeline and enhance employee retention.
The Recruitment and Retention Specialist will assess the District's workforce needs, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment and retention programs aligned with the District's strategic plan. This position collaborates with district leaders, schools, institutions of higher education, and community partners to promote the District as an employer of choice and to support long-term workforce planning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have or be eligible for standard DE teacher certification
- Must hold or be eligible for DE Assistant Principal/Principal certification
- Minimum of five years of documented successful teaching experience
- Experience in elementary, secondary and/or special education preferred
- Demonstrated as a teacher leader in an elementary, middle or high school
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including effective public speaking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Excellent technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google documents and presentation applications
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan and prioritize
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and use data in decision-making
- Must be a self-starter; develop and implement new programs, activities, and strategies
- Knowledgeable of Christina School District policies, procedures, and teacher contract
- Knowledgeable of Delaware teacher certification and licensure procedures/requirements
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per work day.
- Minimum lifting requirements - 50 pounds (with assistance)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate innovative recruitment and retention strategies that support the District's strategic plan and workforce goals.
- Design and implement targeted recruitment initiatives to expand and diversify applicant pools, increase the number of qualified candidates for critical shortage areas, and strengthen the district's educator pipeline.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate district-sponsored recruitment events, job fairs, and hiring initiatives.
- Represent the District at local, regional, and national recruitment events, career fairs, college and university visits, and other employment outreach activities.
- Develop and maintain an annual recruitment calendar and coordinate recruitment activities to maximize outreach and hiring success.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with colleges and universities, educator preparation programs, businesses, professional organizations, and community partners to support recruitment and workforce development.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret recruitment, hiring, vacancy, retention, and turnover data to identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend continuous improvement strategies.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and other recruitment and retention metrics to evaluate hiring outcomes, improve recruitment practices, and support data-informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Public Information Office and other district departments to develop and implement marketing, branding, and communication strategies that promote the District as an employer of choice through social media, digital platforms, and other outreach efforts.
- Coordinate and enhance employee onboarding, orientation, mentoring, recognition, and retention initiatives designed to improve employee engagement and long-term retention.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate talent pipeline initiatives, including partnerships, grow-your-own programs, student teacher experiences, internships, and other workforce development opportunities that support the District's long-term staffing needs.
- Serve on district committees, workgroups, and special projects as assigned.
- Attend meetings, recruitment events, and district activities during evenings and weekends, as required.
- Travel locally, regionally, and occasionally overnight to support recruitment and workforce development initiatives.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
