Recreation Therapist

Job Title: Recreation Therapist (Contract – 13 Weeks)

Location: California 94590
Pay Rate: $1,326 – $1,495
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch)

• 5 x 8-hour shifts weekly

• 1 full weekend shift per month required (or Tue–Sat schedule considered)

Position Summary & Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers recreation-based therapy for patients with disabilities, injuries, or mental illness

• Provides therapeutic interventions using arts, crafts, sports, games, music, drama, dance, movement, animals, and community activities

• Conducts patient assessments using records, observations, standardized tools, and interdisciplinary input

• Develops, implements, evaluates, and adjusts individualized treatment plans

• Supports patient reintegration into community activities and resources

• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and therapy staff

• Documents care and patient progress per facility guidelines

• Performs additional related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)

• Minimum 6 months inpatient psychiatric experience (children, adolescents, and adults) required

• Certification preferred: CTRS, Drama Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Movement/Dance Therapy, or Yoga Therapy (C-IAYT with trauma-informed focus or TCTSY-F)

• Social Worker, LMFT, or Addiction Counselor may be considered if aligned with therapeutic recreation focus

• NCTRC certification preferred

• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required

• TEAM, TEAM-A, or CPI certification required

• Valid Driver’s License required (must be 21+)
