Job Summary

This position is located at Marine Corps Base, Quantico. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Recreation Specialist for Youth Sports.

Major Duties
Assists in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing a comprehensive youth fitness/sports program. Serves as liaison with other military services, organizations, and local community. Ensures facilities are properly prepared in accordance with the rules and regulation of the sport and league. Assists in maintaining sports grounds in proper playing condition. May operate a vehicle (1.5 ton or passenger bus) to transport people or equipment.
Assists with recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers critical to the execution of the Youth Sports/Fitness program. Assists with monitoring coaches and compliance with the National Youth Sports Coaches (NYSC) policies and guidelines. Assists in preparation of supporting data for new plans and budget requirement recommendations.
Monitors a very extensive equipment issue program and applies reasonable control measures to maximize usage of supplies and equipment. Conducts inventories of resources (uniforms, equipment, supplies) and ensures adequate storage and maintenance. Examines assigned youth sports resources for defects.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have three years experience that demonstrates knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of youth sports and fitness program operations. Must have experience with automated data processing procedures and administrative correspondence. Must have experience in customer service and relations. Must be able to work with little supervision. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
Ability to complete the National Youth Sports Coaches clinic-training program. Must possess a valid drivers license and ability to obtain a government license. Able to operate a vehicle with a gross weight of 1.5 ton and 45 passenger bus or larger vehicle as required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
