The City of Vacaville is currently accepting applications for Recreation Specialist II positions within our Parks and Recreation Department. Come join the fun!
The Recreation Specialist II provides general administrative and onsite program support to the Parks and Recreation Department in a number of different program areas.
Active Aging
Support recreation, social programs, activities and events for seniors
Adult and Youth Sports
Facilitating and providing support for youth and adult sports activities and leagues
Adaptive Recreation
Facilitating programs for individuals with disabilities
Concessions
Taking food orders and operating food preparation equipment
Facilities
Perform facility, site and equipment set-up and take down (works nights and weekends)
Gymnastics
Support staff with coaching programs and activities
Special Events
Organizing and directing event activities for the Vacaville community
Youth Services
Support the TGIF program, youth events and summer camps

Part-time positions are paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Some positions may require working irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits and do not accrue leave time with the exception of State-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).
ABOUT YOU
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required.
Experience: Equivalent of one (1) year working as a Recreation Specialist I in the City of Vacaville. Work experience may be supplemented with volunteer experience if the volunteer experience is related to duties similar to a recreation specialist. Volunteer experience is subject to verification and will be prorated based on actual hours volunteered.

License or Certificate:
Select positions may require the possession of a valid California Class C Drivers License and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment. Must be at least 18 years of age if required to drive vehicles for City business.
Select positions may require the ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certificates within 30 days of hire.
ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE
