The individual must be a strong role model/leader with strong experience in guitar and/or ukulele. The ideal candidate would enjoy working as part of a team, with other Recreation Specialists, to provide a positive and successful learning environment.THE POSITION:As a Recreation Specialist Instructor, this position requires the ability to perform a full range of duties as assigned, working independently and exercising judgment and initiative. Recreation Specialist Instructors receive instruction and/or assistance from the Recreation Supervisor. Recreation Specialist Instructors are able to adjust when new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures, interpret precedents, and adopt standard methods or practices to meet variations in facts and/or conditions. They must have the ability to lead a class independently. College-level courses in recreation, education, physical education, or related field is desired. Additional training in area of specialization related to music. Experience: Some experience with recreation programming and leading activities for children is desired. In addition, candidate must have some experience in their area of specialization. Experience including background in guitar and ukulele is recommended. Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work with participants of all ages is required.Special Requirements: Ability to obtain a CPR card and First Aid Certificate.
