The Department:
The Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department is the steward of approximately 450 acres of parkland, featuring community and historic parks, senior services, playgrounds, multigenerational facilities, aquatic centers, tennis courts, and multi-use fields. Nearly 40 percent of the city is dedicated to open space, and the department maintains approximately 40 linear miles of recreational trails.
The Position:
The position generally requires specialist knowledge for large high-profile events and/ or programs. Incumbents work independently, with little supervision. Assignments are complex in nature and require the proven ability to coordinate events or programs associated with a specific area of responsibility.

Qualifications
Experience & Education
Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
College-level courses in recreation, education, physical education, or related field, is preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience and/or training, performing duties comparable to a Senior Recreation Leader, and experience working with the public.
Additional licenses/certificates may be required depending on the specific assignment
