Title: Recreation Coordinator (Sports Facilities)

Location: Saratoga, William R. Oliver Youth Complex (WRO), and Mindiola

Department: Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry

Reports To: Recreation Supervisor - Sports

Wage: Starting at $18.00

Primary Function The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and daily supervision of the WPRF Adult Softball/Kickball Leagues held at Saratoga Complex and Buchner Parks. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and daily supervision of the WPRF Youth Baseball, Softball, and T-ball Leagues held at WRO. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for supervision of WPRF Youth Soccer. Additional hours supervising outside rentals at Saratoga, WRO and Mindiola.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates assigned pre-season activities relating to leagues, including assisting with game scheduling and scorekeeper scheduling.
  2. Responsible for inventory of supplies needed at Complex.
  3. Supervises Complex during all league games, including opening and closing complex, continually evaluating games and staff, promoting a fun, safe environment for all games, enforcing all park and program rules. Periodically observes Kickball games held at Buchner Park.
  4. Follows procedures for formal protests and follows through with Recreation Supervisor - Sports.
  5. Ensuring general safety of all participants by responding to emergencies, documenting accidents, and following emergency action plans (EPA) for weather related incidents.
  6. Will coordinate with Recreation Supervisor - Sports and grounds maintenance staff to determine whether games are playable regarding weather/grounds conditions.
  7. Assist with schedules and rainout dates.
  8. Organizes and distributes awards at end of season.
  9. Assists with scheduling of and supervision of Softball City Tournament. (Adult Leagues only)
  10. Maintains WPRF Adult softball website including standings and weather updates. Updates WPRF Information line as needed.
  11. Maintains files of correspondence, forms, records, reports, and other materials in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  12. Completes end of season report.
  13. Performs other tasks as requested or needed.

Saratoga Tentative Work Schedule April - October (Half an hour before game time; ½ hour after games conclude), end times maybe adjusted Monday: 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm Tuesday: 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm Wednesday: 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm Thursday: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, Buchner Kickball Games, no supervision, observe games on occasion Friday: 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm Saturday: Rental Hours Sunday: Rainout Games

WRO Tentative Work Schedule April - July (1 hour before game time; ½ hour after games conclude), end times maybe adjusted Monday: 4:45 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday: 4:45 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday: 4:45 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday: 4:45 pm to 9:00 pm Friday: 4:15 pm to 8:30 pm Saturday: 8:15 am to 5:15 pm Sunday: Rental Hours

Mindiola Tentative Work Schedule March - October Day: Monday - Thursday 5:15 pm - 10:00 pm, Saturday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Sunday 9:45 am - 7:15 pm

Position Qualifications

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older.
  2. Experience in and/or knowledge of youth baseball, softball, T-ball, Adult Softball/Kickball, and Soccer programming.
  3. Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  4. Ability to communicate, be courteous and cooperate with other staff and the public.
  5. Strong organizational skills.
  6. Ability to operate computer software and other office equipment.
  7. Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
