Recreation Aide (Part-Time)

The mission of Equitas Academy Charter Schools is to prepare students for college, careers, and life pursuits, and inspires them to be champions of equity. We currently serve over 2,000 students and operate four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Role Definition:

The Recreation Aide (Rec Aide) at Equitas Academy provides support for scholars by leading physical education lessons and activities and supervising students during free play and lunch.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create and lead daily physical education lessons for elementary students including exercise, structured games, and free play
• Use dedicated prep time to prepare physical education lessons and materials
• Maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement
• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining school culture
• Provide oversight and supervision of students as assigned
• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, families, and other stakeholders
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; BA or some college preferred
• Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Strong communication skills with students and parents
• A minimum of 6 months experience working with and supervising children preferred
• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment

Hourly Rate: Starting at $22/hour.

Schedule: 8:00am-12:30pm with a 30 minute lunch, Monday - Thursday.
