Licensed Required: Grade 9-12 Teaching Certification along with the interest to obtain or already possess an alternative education certification. This position will include salary and benefits on the teacher pay scale from the School District of Abbotsford.

Desired but not required:

  • AODA experience

  • Mental Health school or workplace experience

The position is initially being funded by a grant for the year 2026-27 school year, with the desire to continue this work beyond this school year by both Abbotsford and Colby School Districts.

The Recovery High School Teacher at the Recovery High School serves as an educator,

academic case manager, and recovery-responsive support provider for students engaged in

recovery from substance use disorders. This role requires the ability to design and facilitate

rigorous yet individualized instruction across multiple subject areas to help students

successfully earn credits toward graduation. Teachers will implement a viable curriculum

aligned to state standards while fostering trust, safety, and healing-centered engagement.

This position also includes participation in student intake, family engagement, community

partnership coordination, recovery-focused counseling support, schedule development, and

collaboration with internal and external partners to support holistic student success in

academic and recovery goals.
