BHN is currently seeking an inspiring and dedicated Recovery Coach to join our Springfield OTP team and help adults on their unique recovery journey.
What You’ll Do: As a Recovery Coach in BHN’s State Opioid Response (SOR) Program, you’ll use your lived experience to mentor and guide individuals in recovery from substance use. Through person-centered and trauma-informed care, you’ll help individuals explore recovery pathways, develop wellness plans, and connect with resources to build long-term stability and hope.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one recovery coaching for adults, including in-person sessions at least monthly
Help individuals create wellness plans, develop SMART goals, and build recovery capital
Use motivational interviewing and trauma-informed strategies to support personal growth and positive change
Connect individuals with recovery communities, treatment programs, and essential services (housing, healthcare, benefits)
Deliver warm handoffs and support individuals in navigating barriers to recovery
Document coaching activities, including wellness plans, contact notes, and program forms (e.g., GPRA, EIM-ESM)
Participate in training, staff meetings, and regular supervision to maintain coaching quality and growth
Who You Are:
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 2 years of sustained recovery from substance use
Completion of a 40-hour Recovery Coach Academy (or willingness to complete) required
Must be certified or on track for certification by the Massachusetts Board of Substance Use Counselor Certification within 1–2 years
Passionate about helping others navigate their recovery
Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and with diverse individuals and teams
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
