LSF is seeking a talented Records Clerk who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose and Impact:

The Records Clerk is responsible for record keeping of all client records in this program. This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations regarding record keeping and maintaining the data in a safe and secure place.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare new client files, gather documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic record.
  • Ensure client records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete
  • File all documents, slips and other information to current file
  • Performing data entry task as necessary
  • Ensure files are stored in the designated area according to storage procedures
  • Responsible for safeguarding records and ensuring compliance HIPAA standards
  • Supply staff with required forms and documents as requested
  • Maintaining program archives
  • Retrieve information and files from the filing system when requested
  • Maintain up-to-date logs, including information about file changes or who has access
  • Scanning and uploading files to create digital copies of physical records
  • Processing and file copies of incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Conducting routine verification to ensure integrity of the filing system
  • Protect records from loss or defacement prior to the end of retention periods
  • Process all records accurately, and in a timely fashion
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client records

Physical Requirements:

Bending, stooping, and lifting a minimum of 15-25 lbs. required to complete daily tasks

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Previous office experience is preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in an office setting

Skills:

  • Superior organizational skill.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of terminology
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of scanner, fax, and electronic health record technology
  • Knowledge of HIPAA medical privacy regulations and practices
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work as part of a health care team
  • Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required
