The Reconciliations Specialist at FirstService Financial Inc. will support the accuracy and integrity of financial data by performing monthly reconciliations, analysis, and resolving discrepancies. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely and accurate revenue reporting, accountability, and compliance with internal controls across all revenue lines. This role partners with finance and client service teams to assist with monthly closing processes and analyze client reporting packages.
Your Responsibilities:
- Analyze revenue across multiple data points
- Perform monthly audit and reconciliation of all revenues, bank, and general ledger accounts
- Identify any timing differences, variances and reconciling items
- Analyze revenue data from our partners and resolve any discrepancies
- Review and validate monthly fee calculations and other contractual financial deliverables
- Maintain reconciliation schedules and support documentation for month end close
- Proactively monitor any collection issues that will affect revenue recognition
- Monitor open reconciling items, follow up on outstanding issues and ensure timely resolution in accordance with internal policies and procedures
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies
- Partner with the finance team to provide discrepancies in revenue reporting
- Assist finance and operations to ensure data alignment across ERP, and internal reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and controls
- Assist with month end close where needed
Skills & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of prior work experience in accounting, reconciliation, finance, or a related discipline supporting daily financial processes
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting, strongly preferred
- Technically proficient in MS Excel (pivot tables, lookup formulas, IF statements, etc.)
- Critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey data insights effectively to all stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
