Blackstone is seeking a corporate communications professional to assist with Blackstone Real Estate’s communications activity across the U.S., with a focus on certain sectors within commercial real estate. The person will join the New York-based Public Affairs team, which is focused on strengthening and protecting the Blackstone brand.

This person will be responsible for creating and managing a communications campaign, that includes a proactive PR strategy and content distribution across digital and social channels. The goal of these campaigns will be to protect and enhance Blackstone’s reputation as a major player in the sector. This is a high priority of the firm as this sector becomes a more significant area of investment. This person will work closely with stakeholders across the firm – senior leadership, business professionals, cross-business corporate functions and marketing, among others.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop a proactive public affairs campaign that helps drive the narrative around a sector of real estate.
  • This will include working with press and coordinating with marketing teams to generate and disseminate relevant content.
  • Working closely with investment professionals to understand the investment thesis, and distill it into easy-to-understand materials for more mass consumption.
  • Close coordination with portfolio companies to manage press and community engagement around development projects in the U.S.
  • Managing multi-faceted projects.
  • Interacting directly with the press, including proactive media outreach and reactive story management.
  • Managing press events, including staffing interviews with senior leaders.

Qualifications:

  • This person should have strong news judgement, storytelling and messaging skills and be confident working autonomously and collaboratively.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience, some in the financial communications industry preferred.
  • Experience executing and managing PR campaigns in a corporate or government role, as well as crisis communications experience.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Highly organized self-starter and can work independently.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail and can efficiently work within competing deadlines.
  • Proactive and hands-on; thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing reputational risk and advising on strategy.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and can collaborate effectively with senior level employees and outside contacts.
