The Reading Instruction Specialist provides targeted reading instruction to small groups of students with diagnosed learning disabilities, focusing on decoding and fluency deficits.
Responsibilities include teaching reading, conducting student evaluations, participating in IEP team meetings, developing and updating IEPs with goals and accommodations, and consulting regularly with classroom and special education teachers.
Qualifications include Massachusetts certification as a Teacher of Children with Moderate Special Needs and as a Reading Specialist.
Experience with language-based, multi-sensory, structured reading methods is required, with preferred certifications in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or Lindamood Bell.
Knowledge of computer applications for special needs students is also desired.
