Description: Now Hiring RCDD Designer Austin, TX | High-Level Low Voltage Design Role
Are you an experienced RCDD ready to take ownership of complex low voltage system design in one of the fastest-growing construction markets in Texas? TradeSTAR is partnering with a leading, nationally recognized low voltage integrator supporting large-scale commercial and mission-critical projects across the Austin area. This is a high-impact role where your designs directly drive field execution, project success, and long-term infrastructure performance.
What You ll Do
Design and engineer structured cabling systems for large-scale commercial environments including data centers, healthcare, and enterprise facilities
Produce complete design packages: pathways, spaces, backbone, horizontal cabling, and grounding systems
Develop TIA/EIA and BICSI-compliant drawings, specifications, and documentation
Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to generate detailed construction drawings and as-builts
Perform site surveys, pathway analysis, and capacity planning
Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure design accuracy and constructability
Create bill of materials (BOMs), scopes of work, and technical narratives
Support pre-sales engineering, bid reviews, and value engineering efforts
Ensure designs meet NEC, local AHJ requirements, and industry best practices
Participate in QA/QC reviews and oversee design integrity through project lifecycle
Who You Are
Current BICSI RCDD certification (REQUIRED)
5+ years of experience in structured cabling design / low voltage systems engineering
Strong knowledge of:
TIA/EIA standards
BICSI TDMM methodologies
Fiber optic and copper infrastructure design
Data center and enterprise network environments
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
Experience designing OSP/ISP pathways, MDF/IDF layouts, and riser diagrams
Ability to interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings
Strong understanding of bandwidth requirements, cable fill ratios, and pathway optimization
Experience supporting large commercial construction or hyperscale environments preferred
Excellent communication skills able to interface with engineers, PMs, and field crews
