Job Title: Housing Coordinator

Supervisor: Director of Housing

Classification: Exempt

Hiring Salary Range: $54,000 - $57,000 per year

About UMOM New Day Centers: Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to end family homelessness by restoring hope and rebuilding lives. With an annual operating budget of $23 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including those families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub, Maricopa County's family coordinated entry system.

Position Description: The Housing Coordinator is responsible for supervising the case management of assigned reports and operations of an assigned UMOM housing program with a specific focus on families. This position is responsible for providing support and supervision to direct reports, as well as assist with monitoring of grant compliance and management.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Housing case managers' programs according to established policy and procedures.
  • Ensure program goals are met, according to grant requirements.
  • Oversee process for determining eligibility of all prospective UMOM RRH clients.
  • Oversee process for developing housing plans for all UMOM shelter clients.
  • Collaborate with all UMOM and community housing and shelter programs to determine the most appropriate housing interventions.
  • Review client files and ensure data entry and accuracy and provide guidance and direction to Housing Case Managers.
  • Conduct ongoing staff meetings and supervision for Housing Case Managers.
  • Provide back-up support for Housing Case Managers as needed.
  • Attend weekly client staffing for housing support.
  • Oversee housing services for mobile domestic violence housing programs if needed.
  • Manage partner relationships with property management companies.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Provide individual, weekly supervision to case managers.
  • Provide reports and documentation for all Rapid Rehousing programs as required.
  • Assure all client files and case notes are accurate and up to date.
  • Follow up on intake completion.
  • Maintain list of housing providers and oversee landlord recruitment for UMOM RRH programs, if needed
  • Provide support to clients and staff regarding landlord/ tenant issues.
  • Assist in serving as liaison to housing providers/ landlords when appropriate.
  • Assist in serving as liaison to HOM Inc. for housing programs.
  • Develop and maintain client files for specialized grants.
  • Participate in grant audits.
  • Comply with established agency policies and procedures.
  • Reviews client outcomes with each case manager to identify strengths, opportunities, and connect them with the appropriate professional development opportunities to further support their efforts to deliver excellent service.

Other duties as assigned by Leadership and/or Executives.

Qualifications and Competency Requirements:

Experience and Education

  • High School or GED Diploma, required
  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in a related field or Master's degree, preferred
  • Minimum three years of professional experience, with at least two years of experience in relevant roles (e.g. social services, homeless services, non-profits, real estate, housing advocacy, and/or community-based positions)
  • Minimum of two years' experience working directly with landlords, property managers, real estate investors, and/or affordable housing developers
  • Previous experience in case management and working with low-income/at-risk/homeless individuals, strongly preferred.
  • Case Management experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and understanding of community health and social service system.
  • Knowledge of programming related to homeless services and trauma-informed services is preferred
  • Knowledge of Rapid Rehousing/Tenant-Based Rental Assistance programs is preferred
  • Demonstrated successful performance outcomes

Computer skills

  • Proficiency with Windows operating system, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Previous experience with Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) or HMIS is preferred.

Compliance

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to clear the Central Registry Screening from the Department of Child Safety & Adult Protective Services.
  • Ability to comply with and pass all required background check and drug screening requirements, including but not limited to pre-employment and random drug screening as required/requested.
  • Valid AZ Driver's License and a driving record that falls within UMOM's policy
  • 50/100 level of car insurance coverage.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position.

  • This position is typically performed in an interior, environmentally controlled office setting. The duties of the job require extended periods of time being stationary and manipulating a computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse), and other standard office equipment including, but not limited to printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Work Schedule: The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, normal business hours and may include occasional nights and weekends as needed to support the needs of the position and the organization.
