Perform repair and preventive maintenance on railcar moving equipment and evaluating for other preventative maintenance items to address with the customer. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustments Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments Some troubleshooting on equipment may occasionally be required Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs Develop and maintain long-lasting working relationships with customers Must be willing to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and available for after-hours calls as needed Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations. This role involves hands-on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include: Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods Safely operating tools and equipment Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry
