Your mission
As a Production Welder I, you’ll join, align, and assemble carbon steel and stainless-steel carbody structures in a high-energy production environment, helping deliver safer, more reliable trains.
Impact, day one
- Translate blueprints, parts lists, sketches, and verbal direction into precise manual/mechanized welds and repeatable assembly work.
- Fabricate routine welded pieces—subassemblies and mounted components—with accuracy.
- Execute visual inspections and follow documented quality checkpoints to uphold standards.
Shift
Monday–Thursday, 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.
What it takes
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED (or equivalent education/experience).
- Practical welding test required for all applicants.
- Preferred experience using torch and plasma tools.
- General mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read manufacturing drawings and confirm dimensions.
- Basic English communication (written and verbal).
Physical essentials
- Frequent walking; reaching; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling.
- Frequent climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
- Frequent work on elevated platforms.
- Occasional lifting/moving up to 40 lbs.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.

Pay transparency
Hourly rate in Lexington, NC: $20.00 – $22.51. Actual rate may be higher or lower based on budget and your experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
