Atlantic Track & Turnout Co. is an employee-owned leader in manufacturing, supply, and service for railroads, transit systems, and crane runways. For 60+ years, our people-first approach has powered superior products and trusted partnerships. We’re growing our Richmond, Illinois team with a Rail Forming Machine Technician focused on bending and shaping rail for turnout assemblies.

A day on our 2nd shift

You’ll train on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm) before moving to 2nd shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:00pm – 1:30am). Once you’re on the team, you’ll kick off each shift by readying your equipment and work area, then move rail through precise bends that meet blueprint specs, handing off finished pieces to the next stage.

What you’ll do

  • Use and care for required PPE at all times: hard hat, steel-toe boots with metatarsal guard, safety goggles, and gloves.
  • Perform pre-start machine checks (oil leaks, sensor alignment, safety mat placement) to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Stage rail from carts to the bending work zone for efficient throughput.
  • Operate overhead and jib cranes to position and move heavy rail safely.
  • Verify work/sales orders against label codes on each rail section before bending.
  • Interpret blueprints and mark rails to validate curvature and overall bend accuracy.
  • Complete check sheets and work orders to document progress and quality results.
  • Transfer bent/curved rail to the next operation per the work order.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe area for the incoming shift.
  • Brief the next-shift Supervisor on status and any open items.

Minimum qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC, etc.).
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing or hardscaping environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Measure accurately with a tape to 1/32 of an inch.
  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to earn internal crane and forklift certifications.
  • Work on-site in Richmond, Illinois.

Preferred qualifications
