We want your knowledge and expertiseJob Summary and QualificationsThe technologist produces radiographs of diagnostic quality using the least amount of radiation exposure to the patient co-workers and himherself. Technologists provide quality patient care adhering to the Departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures. What you will do in this role Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock burns and extraneous radiation to patients. Responsible for safe handling of equipment and films. Assesses patients understanding of process and informed consent of invasive procedures. Assesses evaluates and informs physician of changes in patients condition during exam. Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly. Makes special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as intravenous pyelograms intravenous cholangiograms bronchograms mammograms hysterosalpingograms tomograms cholangiography arthrograms myelograms and ho pinnings in surgery. Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations. Processes x-ray film if a darkroom technician is not available. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Assists in maintaining basic records and reports. Assists in maintaining files. Competent in the use of CR and PACS. Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel. Takes x-ray CAT US and Angio calls according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours. Interacts professionally with patientfamily. Completes all work before clocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses stations. Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations. Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments. Compiles and maintains quality assurance information for mammography in accordance with ACR State of Louisiana Department of Health Standards the FDA and the DHHS. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical psychosocial educational safety and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups neonate pediatric adolescent geriatric and general population. Able to modify job duties and communicate with customers in an age appropriate manner. Appropriately assesses the patients pain and involves the patient in effective management of pain using age appropriate interventions. Meets dress code standards appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual educational requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled completes work within designated time. Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties maintains PAR levels. Wears identification while on duty uses computerized punch time system correctly. Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion. Attends annual review and departmental in-services as scheduled. Attends required staff meetings. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement CQI activities. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission ethics and goals of the hospital as well as the focus statement of the department. Excellent communication skills KnowledgeCompetency to complete all standard x-ray proceduresexams.
