As Virginia's largest orthopedic specialty practice, we're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Radiology Technologist Assistant to support our imaging team and help deliver an exceptional patient experience.
In this role, you'll work alongside radiologic and MRI technologists, assisting with patient care, exam preparation, workflow coordination, and departmental operations. What You'll Do
As a Radiology Technologist Assistant, you'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging services.
Patient Care & Experience
- Welcome patients and verify identity using established safety protocols.
- Explain imaging procedures and answer basic patient questions to help patients feel informed and comfortable.
- Prepare patients for imaging exams by reviewing screening forms, obtaining patient information, assisting with changing, and securing personal belongings.
- Assist patients before, during, and after imaging procedures while maintaining privacy, dignity, and comfort.
- Remain attentive during exams and respond appropriately to patient or technologist needs.
Imaging & Clinical Support
- Assist radiologic and MRI technologists during imaging procedures to promote efficient patient flow.
- Support patient and staff safety by following all radiology and MRI safety protocols.
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain equipment and supplies needed for patient care.
- Assist with Injection Suite operations as needed.
- Perform duties in other imaging areas as assigned to support departmental operations.
Workflow & Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate exam documentation and imaging workflow records.
- Ensure imaging studies are properly transmitted to PACS and complete required documentation for radiologist interpretation and billing.
- Coordinate follow-up for delayed imaging interpretations or technical issues.
- Import and export imaging studies, prepare CDs or electronic images for patients and referring providers, and document completed requests.
- Transcribe and schedule imaging referrals from internal providers and outside physicians.
- Assist with departmental projects and process improvement initiatives.
Department Operations
- Maintain inventory of patient care supplies, linens, PPE, and imaging materials.
- Assist with cleaning and disinfecting imaging equipment and patient care areas.
- Manage laundry and support daily operational readiness.
- Follow all departmental policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Experience in healthcare, patient care, customer service, or a clinical support role.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, reach, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and assist with patient movement.
- Frequently lift and move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with heavier patient transfers using appropriate equipment.
- Maintain visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity necessary to safely assist with patient care and imaging procedures.
- Work safely around medical equipment while following infection prevention, radiation safety, and MRI safety protocols.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
Compensation Range for this position:
$15.58 - $23.37
Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
